Acuity recognizes many businesses have been temporarily closed during this COVID-19 pandemic. Many businesses furloughed their employees, allowing workers to be paid and receive benefits even though they were not actually working. Unless required by the state where you operate, Acuity will not collect premium on payroll of furloughed employees for general liability and workers’ compensation policies.
If you furloughed employees during this time, it is extremely important that you keep accurate records of payroll paid to furloughed employees. After the expiration of your current policy term, when your payroll amounts are audited, providing this documentation will ensure you are only charged premium for employees who were actually working during a shutdown.
